2021 was a year filled with significant discoveries, both from self-growth and development to essentials that I will never leave the house without and never go on the floor without. Grab your espresso, matcha, or whatever you fancy, today’s a longer post
So here is my game-changing Nursing Must-Haves for 2021:
okay, so along I am sure all the other nurses in the world, all I ever wanted is to finally find the perfect nursing shoe. After hours of research… my friends these are it. These were recommended by Nike as their “healthcare go-to shoe” due to the low to the ground 3.0 midsole and sock-like feel. They are not only a perfect fit for all foot types especially wide feet knowing, that I usually buy all my shoes in men’s. But, they are very breathable for those 12hour+ shifts. When they do get dirty or need that freshen up they are incredibly easy to wipe down and even throw in the washer if you choose. They grew on me so much that I now have pair in my gym bag when I'm not using my Metcons and or just need to run errands and be out in the city.
Honestly my whole nursing career I always settled for using the classic Littmann stethoscope which is also great. But the one day that I used a cardiology stethoscope I never looked back since. To me, it was like the switch from economy to first-class. There have been several times my assessments really did pick up these small adventitious sounds with this stethoscope and made pivotal changes in my patient’s treatment plans. Defiantly a price jump, but I would say it is well worth it for yourself and your patients.
This bag ticks everything off the list for me, it's HUMONGOUS. I have been waiting for years for Lulu to finally release a bag that can be used as a on luggage carry on and they finally released this. Whether it's a nursing bag, travel bag, a coffee shop/work bag it has tons of pockets, is easy to clean, durable, and is so chic.
Everyone needs or has that one travel mug they go for and bring to work on a daily. For me it's the 12oz Keep-Cup. The glass, the tight-fitting cork, the overall look, and the functionality. It's versatile from all your iced matcha lattes to your hot teas and I find that the glass keeps me nice and toasty on night shifts as well :)
When it comes to those tight shoulders or those headaches at 4am I am always reaching for my rollerball. I love that this roller is like a jumbo version of the peppermint halo, so I can be very… I mean very generous with it when rolling it on my shoulders, neck, and temples. I'm talking lather. The best part is I never have to worry about it ever running out.
I bought this vest years ago as I thought it would be so versatile and reliable to use whether it's running, hiking, or on the floor. I was right, or at least the sales associate was when she recommended it to me :) This vest really does keep you insulated and is so form-fitting making it the perfect vest. This vest is always in the rotation of vests and is a nice break from the classic BC Children's vest.
Before Covid I found that I was always using this zip jacket especially on night shifts. The quality is seamless that I can toss it in the wash again and again and it still feels the same as when I bought it. Comfort is truly key to a nightshift, and I am never ever cold in this jacket, she is insulated.
I try to keep my routine pretty minimalistic while having long-lasting products that won't let me down. I'm always on the hunt for some good finds, feel free to send an email of your favourites!
See you in two weeks friends :)
Yours truly,
ppk
